3D Planeta has earned its B – we’re New Brunswick’s newest certified B Corp™.
This has been Norm and my goal since day one because we believe businesses, particularly technology start-ups, can help the world build back better. The B Corp movement is a great way to do that.
B Corps are for-profit companies that use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. They meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. As of 2020, there are almost 4,000 B Corps in 150 industries and 74 countries around the world.
3D Planeta is the 15th B Corp in Atlantic Canada, joining fellow New Brunswick B Corps such as Hemmings House, Rise and Wicked Ideas.
In addition to becoming a B Corp, 3D Planeta is also dedicated to joining the global business movement working to address the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
The B Corp movement and the UN SDGs align with how Norm and I view the world and how we want to run our company. We want to support our home community and home province, develop world-class talent that comes from around the world, and create and sell tech solutions that solve some of the world’s biggest problems.
3D Planeta is focused on three of the SDGs: #8, which promotes sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all; #9, which aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation; #11, which seeks to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
3D Planeta is also a member of 1% for the Planet. The B Corp certification caps off an important week for 3D Planeta, which also closed a $1 million seed round led by Atlantic Canadian investors Concrete Ventures and the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation.
